Arc Flash

“3S” provides Arc Flash and Breaker coordination studies in accordance with the NFPA 70E – Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace and IEEE Standard 1584 – Electrical Guide for Performing Arc Flash Hazard Calculations. OSHA now requires it and it shall also protect your employees. We have experts with more than a decade of experience in similar projects. Our experts understand the need for these studies and will help your facility get in compliance with the requirements. “3S: shall print and provide labels that can be applied to the electrical panels. We utilize the “SKM System Analysis” tool to model the electrical system, and generating reports.

Scope of Work

The following will be included in the scope of work:

  1. The Client in the USA (MEP firm or electrical contractor) shall collect system data during the onsite visit(s) and share it with the “3S”. The Client shall also share an electrical one-line diagram and photos of all panels and breakers.
  2. Model the electrical system in SKM power system analysis software
  3. Calculate the fault current (worst-case short circuit current) at each piece of equipment and compare this to the short circuit rating of the equipment
  4. Review system coordination and provide recommendations to improve system reliability
  5. Analyze the arc flash hazards and provide recommendations to mitigate high energy locations by changing circuit breaker settings or changing fuse types where appropriate
  6. Compile results and recommendations into an easy to read the report
  7. Print arc flash hazard warning labels with PPE requirement shown where applicable. The client applies labels on the switchboards, and panels.
